Canadian Nuclear Association Conference: The Core of Canada’s Low-Carbon Future

I will be attending the 2016 Canadian Nuclear Association Conference and Trade Show in Ottawa, Ontario on February 24-26, 2016.  This is an exciting time for the nuclear industry in Ontario with the Province’s recent approval of OPG’s Darlington Refurbishment Project and Bruce Power’s Refurbishment Project for its units 3-8.  Through these projects, OPG and Bruce Power have a good opportunity to set the North American nuclear industry in a very positive direction.

Some of the sessions and topics I am interested in include:

  • Canada_NuclearHon. Bob Chiarelli and Hon. Reza Moridi will discuss the Province’s support for the nuclear industry.
  • OPG’s CEO, Jeff Lyash will discuss the Darlington Refurbishment project.
  • A session on improving public communications regarding nuclear power and the industry.
  • Multiple speakers regarding the positive impact nuclear power has in a carbon-free future.
  • How the supplier base in Ontario is prepared to support these two critical projects, specifically the presentation by Preston Swafford, Executive VP and CNO of SNC-Lavalin and the Bruce Power Supplier Conference.

Look for a recap after the show on what I learned, and what I think it will mean for the North American nuclear industry. Also, please let me know if you will be attending.
