Beginning this week more than 100 world leaders are gathering in Paris to discuss climate change at the United Nations Conference on Climate Change. With 2014 marking the hottest year on record, the Climate Conference comes at a crucial time. We are looking forward to hearing what topics, ideas and solutions are discussed.
Over the weekend, the New York Times, published an interesting piece on how Nuclear energy plays into the summit, climate change, Washington politics and the future of energy. The article, The New Atomic Age We Need, discusses the need to “thaw nuclear energy policy that keeps technology frozen in time”. It gives great insight on the history of cleaner energy options, including nuclear, and what is needed to move things forward. Here’s hoping for a plan to change how we look at nuclear energy; a plan to put aside funding to design new technologies will become tangible and help ease emissions and pollution while sustaining energy consumption needs globally and locally.
