SMR Technology is the Focus of Conference Next Week in Atlanta

Next week, I’m planning to attend the 7th Annual International SMR and Advanced Reactor Summit.

This show is specifically focused on the deployment of SMRs. With attendees and speakers representing government agencies, Congress and companies that are managing SMR projects today, it’s sure to be another exciting show full of insights that will inform work in this area.

Last fall, I wrote a paper for The Electricity Journal on SMRs. I talked about the outlook for and some of the challenges facing this technology. It’s looked at by many as one solution to many of the problems, such as cost overruns and delays, plaguing the nuclear industry.

But we must learn from the past and get these early deployments right. The technology is at a crucial point, and that is why sharing information now is so important.

The speakers and sessions at the SMR conference will cover financing and regulatory issues associated with SMRs, as well as design and licensing.

This show is put on by Nuclear Energy Insider, which provides business intelligence to the nuclear energy community. It’s scheduled for March 30-31 in Atlanta.

I hope to see you there. Feel free to drop me a line if you’re planning to go.
