NEI Publishes New Paper by Modus’ Eric Gould and Jim Carter
Category: News & Events
The Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) has published a new paper written by Modus co-founder and partner Eric Gould and senior consultant Jim Carter.
The paper, titled Design Completion and Reliability of Schedule and Cost Estimations to Support Construction Decisions, provides guidance about how large, complex projects should mature over time and how cost, schedule and risk should be viewed in light of that maturity.
This information will be essential for owners and developers of the next wave of new nuclear projects. Many of these projects are first of a kind (FOAK), potentially hampered by long timelines and significant uncertainty during project planning. The paper details how a Phase Gate process can be used effectively to increase confidence in the development process for these types of projects.
The paper is intended as an implementation guide to accompany an earlier NEI paper on best practices for new nuclear construction. It is available to full NEI members. You can view an executive summary here.
